On 16 October 2023, the Civil Protection of Santa Catarina State, Brazil, published information on the effects of the heavy rains occurring there. There are 133 municipalities that have declared an emergency due to the heavy rains (22 increase since the 12 October report), 2 municipalities declared a state of public calamity (Taió and Rio Sul), and at least 151 municipalities reported floods, landslides, and hailstorms affecting homes, roads, and urban centers (12 increase).
