Brazil (Update)

On 24 January 2024, the Brazil Agency of Communication (EBC per its acronym in Portuguese) update regarding the heavy rains registered in the state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; indicate that more than 26,052 people were displaced (13,752 increase since the 18 January report) and at least 100,000 people were affected (52,000 increase) in the municipalities of Rio de Janeiro, Belford Roxo, Duque de Caxias, Japeri, Mesquita, Nilópolis, Nova Iguaçu, Queimados, São Gonçalo, São João de Meriti, Miguel Pereira, Paty de Alferes, and Quatis. A total of 12 deaths were reported. Additionally, on 23 January 2024 heavy rains were reported in the state of Minas Gerais.
