Ecuador
On 5 June 2023, the Ecuador Risk Communication Management Department provided information on heavy rains affecting the canton of Esmeraldas. On 4 June, the government started the evacuation process of the population. To date, 1,467 people were rescued and 11,766 people were affected. There are 2,895 homes in the flooded area and the province has 108 health care facilities, of which, 105 are operative. On 5 June, the Ecuador police reported 1,000 people are being attended to in the 8 shelters opened by the government and 90 families are sheltered there. Haiti
On 5 June 2023, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), provided information on the heavy rains that occurred on 3 June 2023 in Haiti, reporting 37,375 people were affected. The civil protection of Haiti activated the National Emergency Operation Center and reported there are 7,475 affected families and 15 deaths, as well as 1,219 flooded homes in the departments of l’Ouest, Nippes, Sud-Est, Nord-Ouest, and Centre. In addition, 13,390 people are displaced and 8 are missing. Of the affected people, 5,510 are from the department of Ouest. The report is available at: OCHA and Civil Protection of Haiti
