Guatemala (update) 

On 6 August, the Guatemala National Coordination System for Disaster Reduction (CONRED, per its acronym in Spanish) reported that since the beginning of the rainy season, 389 severe weather incidents such as floods, landslides, mud flows, and strong winds have affected 681,293 people. In total, 5,677 people have needed to evacuate, of which 343 have been placed in temporary shelters. In total, 8 people have died and 3 people have been injured, while 282 people are still at risk. According to the Damage Assessment and Needs Analysis (EDAN, per its acronym in Spanish), 722 homes have sustained slight damage, 1,225 homes have sustained moderate damage, and 85 homes have been severely damaged; 56 homes are currently at risk. In term of infrastructural damages, 12 bridges and 109 roads have been affected. The report is available at: CONRED.  


Wildfire  
 

United States of America (update)  

On 8 August, the United States Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) provided an update for the Dixie fire currently occurring in Northern California. The Dixie fire covers 447,723 acres and is currently 21% contained; according to media, it has become the 2nd largest wildfire in California history. In total, 30,698 people have been evacuated from the surrounding areas, 319 homes have been destroyed, 23 homes have been damaged, and 13,751 homes are currently at risk. In addition, 3 people have been injured by the fire. On 9 August, media reported that more than 5,800 personnel have been assigned to fight the Dixie fire; however, the fire is not expected to be contained until 20 August.
