United States of America (Update)     

On 8 January 2023, the United States Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), provided an update regarding flooding in Northern California. There were 11 deaths reported (1 increase since the prior report) and mandatory evacuations were issued in Los Angeles and Monterey, including 4 schools closed in Yolo. Currently a total of 28 (decrease of 2 since the prior report) county Emergency Operation Centers (EOC) are activated. In addition, 13 shelters are active (increase of 4 since the prior report), housing 370 people (increase of 145 since the prior report). On 8 January 2023, due to the emergency conditions resulting from successive and severe winter storms, flooding, and mudslides, the United States president declared an emergency exists in the State of California requesting Federal assistance and local response efforts.
