To Achieve a National Surveillance System for Maternal Near Miss

Montevideo, 19/12/2020 (CLAP/PAHO/WHO)- On 18th December, the Latin American Centre for Perinatology, Women and Reproductive Health (CLAP) of the Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) held the webinar "Recommendations for establishing a national surveillance system for maternal near miss in Latin America and the Caribbean".

During the meeting, in addition to presenting the main recommendations and successful experiences of maternal near miss surveillance in the region, the next steps and the technical cooperation that CLAP can provide on this issue were discussed. 

The proposal was aimed at managers of health services and ministerial maternal health and reproductive health programmes, as well as epidemiologists, gynaecologists, obstetricians, midwifes and doctors.
