Consultancy - Development of a National Strategic Plan for the Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases 2021-2028 for the Ministry of Health in Suriname

The Ministry of Health in Suriname underlines the need for the scaling up of the NCD response at a junction of the end of the implementation period of the National Action Plan for the Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases 2015-2020 and the beginning of an era in which the focus on NCDs is globally promoted.

The PAHO will therefore support the Ministry of Health in Suriname with the development of a National Strategic Plan for the Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases 2021-2028 based on the outcomes of the NCD investment case, identified priorities and gaps based on the evaluation of the performance and progress of implementing the strategic objectives of the Prevention and Control of Noncommunicable Diseases for 2012-2025 and the PAHO Strategy for the Prevention and Control of Noncommunicable Diseases for 2012-2025 along its four strategic lines of action:

  1. Multisectoral policies and partnerships for NCD prevention and control;
  2. NCD risk factors and protective factors;
  3. health system response to NCDs and risk factors; and
  4. NCD surveillance and research.

The National Strategic Plan for the Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases 2021-2028 will furthermore propose actions that build on achievements and existing capacities in the country and the vision of the government related to these strategic lines of action with an emphasis on multisectoral initiatives and mechanisms to engage and coordinate stakeholders in the whole of society and the whole of government actions.

A consultant will be hired to facilitate the process of the development of a National Strategic Plan for the Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases 2021-2028 for the Ministry of Health in Suriname.

The purpose of this assignment is to develop a National Strategic Plan for the Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases 2021-2028 for the Ministry of Health in Suriname.
