Washington, DC, 22 September 2015 (PAHO/WHO) - During the 54th Directing Council of the Pan American Health Organization, PAHO and the United Nations Foundation will host live webcasts featuring interviews with experts on key health issues that health ministers from across the Americas will be debating at their week-long meeting.

The interactive digital program, PAHO + SocialGood, will be transmitted on September 30 from 11:00 to 12:00 p.m. (EDT).  The webcast can be followed via Livestream: www.livestream.com/opsenvivo.

The webcast will include exclusive interviews with experts sharing new developments in areas including South-South Cooperation: "Mais Médicos" Program, the fight against hepatitis, immunizations, as well as the importance of promoting healthy aging.


The 54th PAHO Directing Council takes place from 28 September to 2 October at PAHO headquarters in Washington, D.C. The Directing Council is made up of the ministers of health of PAHO member countries and meets each year to set health policies and establish priorities for PAHO's technical cooperation programs and public health collaboration.

The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) works with the countries of the Americas to improve the health and quality of life of the population. Founded in 1902, it is the world's oldest international public health agency. It serves as the WHO Regional Office for the Americas and is the specialized health agency of the Inter-American system.
