More COVID-19 Supplies for Barbados

PAHO Barbados donated COVID-19 supplies to Barbados

As part of the continuous COVID-19 response to countries, the PAHO Office for Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean Countries (ECC), donated additional COVID-19 PPE and testing supplies to Barbados Ministry of Health.

The donation of 17,500 surgical masks and 1000 viral transport medium and swabs were presented to the Lt Col Jeffrey Bostic, Minister of Health and Wellness and Dr Anton Best, Acting Chief Medical Officer, on 29 May 2020.  In presenting the supplies, Dr Yitades Gebre, PAHO/WHO representative to Barbados and the ECC, remarked that it was part of PAHO’s continued technical cooperation with the government of Barbados for the work being done in the response to COVID-19.  He said, “we are very pleased with the progress that has been made in containing the outbreak, specifically now with the phased re-opening of the economy and creating opportunity for the society after the shut down.”

Minister Bostic thanked PAHO for the donation, he remarked that any success made so far has been grounded in the close relationship with PAHO, acknowledging the guidance and support provided.
