PAHO supported the Ministries of Health and Education to conduct peer education training and launch school health clubs in region 1 and 8

School health clubs

GEORGETOWN, GUYANA- 3 OCTOBER 2023- The Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization in collaboration with the Ministries of Health and Education, with support from Improved Health of Women and Adolescent Girls in Situations of Vulnerability project funded by Canada, conducted two (2) Peer Education Trainings and created school health clubs with over 50 students from Baramita and Mahdia Secondary Schools.

These activities were implemented to promote healthy, active lifestyle practices and to promote the development of life skills for adolescents within the hinterland regions.

As part of this activity, WASH packages were distributed to the students and Sports Equipment were donated to the schools to promote physical activities with emphasis on girls going out to play.

PAHO/WHO GUY CO will continue to provide technical cooperation to the Ministries of Health and Education to improve the health and wellbeing of all citizens.
