ENLACE, the PAHO data portal on noncommunicable diseases, mental health, external causes brings together data on a comprehensive set of indicators relevant to the programmatic areas of the Department of Noncommunicable Diseases and Mental Health (NMH) including prevention and control of noncommunicable diseases (NCDs), violence and injury, risk factors for noncommunicable diseases, nutrition and physical activity, mental health, and substance use, as well as disability and rehabilitation services.

ENLACE data portal's extensive use of interactive data visualizations makes it easier for readers to explore data and discover insights that support regional and national efforts to reduce the burden of NCDs, mental health conditions, injury, and exposition to risk factors for NCDs in the Region of the Americas.

All data and information products featured in the ENLACE are the result of the collaborative work among professionals from a variety of fields, disciplines, and programmatic areas and units within NMH, and technical areas across the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO).

Data disseminated in the ENLACE data portal are mainly provided by the PAHO Member States or obtained from official national sources including civil registration and vital statistics (CRVS), health statistics, national population-based surveys, and administrative records. Measures of morbidity and mortality are estimated by the World Health Organization (WHO) or PAHO technical units. Data sources and methods for estimates of morbidity, mortality, and disability are described in methodological notes.

With an open-access approach, all data can be downloaded using the download feature in each data visualization. Methodological information is also provided to facilitate and support data interpretation and analyses.

Data, visualizations, and interactive tools will be systematically updated according to the availability of new data and estimates and improvement recommendations and suggestions from reviewers and users.
