Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Week 2026

Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Week 2026 in the Caribbean will be celebrated from October 12 to 18. This year's theme is “Helping Adolescent Mothers Thrive: Preventing Unintended Repeat Pregnancies and Building Healthy Futures."

Every adolescent mother deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and build the future she dreams of.

Across Latin America and the Caribbean, thousands of girls become mothers during adolescence each year. While many face significant challenges, one pregnancy should not determine a girl's future. With access to quality health services, education, social support, and informed reproductive choices, adolescent mothers can continue pursuing their goals, raising healthy children, and contributing to their communities.

Preventing unintended repeat pregnancies is not only a health priority. It is an investment in the wellbeing, rights, and opportunities of adolescent mothers and their children. When adolescent mothers are supported, they are better able to stay in school, access employment opportunities, make informed decisions about their reproductive health, and build healthier futures for themselves and their families.

This Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Week, we are shifting the conversation: from focusing only on preventing a first pregnancy to ensuring that adolescent mothers are not left behind.

Together, we can help adolescent mothers thrive.

  • Support access to quality, adolescent-responsive health services.
  • Promote education and opportunities for adolescent mothers.
  • Encourage informed choices about if and when to have another child.
  • Create supportive families, schools, workplaces, and communities.
  • Amplify the voices and leadership of adolescent mothers.
