CSP28/9 Strategy for the Prevention and Control of  Noncommunicable DiseasesNoncommunicable diseases (NCDs)-mainly cardiovascular diseases (CVDs), cancer, diabetes, and chronic respiratory diseases-constitute the leading cause of death in the Region. NCDs were the cause of an estimated 4.45 million deaths in 2007, of which 37% occurred among people under 70 years of age.
