In this episode of Let’s Talk Health, we explore the vital importance of blood donation with Dr. Mauricio Beltrán, PAHO’s regional advisor on blood. Although World Blood Donor Day is observed every June 14, the need is constant: thousands of people depend on transfusions every day in situations such as complicated childbirths, surgeries, accidents, or chronic diseases.
We discuss the progress in Latin America and the Caribbean, the challenges in strengthening regular voluntary donation, and the myths that still persist. We also highlight how a single donation can benefit up to three people and why donating regularly is a simple act that can save lives.
If you are able to do so, donating blood is one of the most direct ways to help others. Because, as the slogan says, every drop counts—it is a drop of humanity.
