The Arboviral Diseases Program of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) is pleased to invite you to the virtual presentation of the new (2021) Guidelines for the clinical diagnosis and treatment of dengue, chikungunya, and Zika (available in Spanish) on 30 November 2021 at 12:00 m. (US Eastern Time, GMT -5).

The way in which the guidelines were developed differs greatly from previously published clinical guidelines, as the steps of the grading methodology of the assessment, development, and evaluation of recommendations (GRADE) were rigorously followed. Therefore, it can be considered that these are the first-GRADE guidelines for the clinical management of these three arboviruses in the Region of the Americas and in the world.

The guidelines are structured around 12 key questions on population, intervention, comparator, and outcome (PICO questions), which, in a clear and simple way, will answer questions related to the clinical diagnosis, management, and prevention of severity and deaths caused by these three diseases. This activity is aimed at medical personnel, nursing professionals, health workers, and the academic, and scientific field in general.

Its preparation took two years and had the participation of clinical experts from several countries of the Americas, members of the International Technical Group (GT-Arbovirus International) experts in arboviral diseases of PAHO, and experts of the GRADE methodology, as well as the support from the World Health Organization. All of them, with great skill and dedication, combined the scientific knowledge accumulated in the medical practice of the Region of the Americas with the results of an exhaustive systematic review that found the best evidence published in the international specialized bibliography on dengue, chikungunya, and Zika.

We hope you can join us in this high-level presentation seminar.
