On 5 April 2021, according to the Civil Protection Haiti (Protection Civile Haiti), the intense rains, which have been falling for at least three days in the northern region of Haiti, have caused three deaths and significant damage in several departments. Additionally, one death and a total of 149 flooded houses were reported in Jean-Rabel (North West), while two deaths were recorded in the municipality of Limonade (North) and three other people are missing in the same department. More than 1,270 houses were flooded in the municipalities of Terrier-Rouge, Caracol, and Trou-du-Nord (North-East). Furthermore, a total of 137 families have been sheltered in Terrier-Rouge and Caracol and in Cap Haitien, an additional shelter with capacity for 85 persons has been activated.
