On 1 July 2020, the Government of the State of Santa Catarina reported that an extratropical cyclone that occurred on 30 June affected at least 102 municipalities in the state causing the death of 9 persons and the disappearance of two. Extensive damage to property has occurred and damage survey and repair is ongoing with about 1,000 Military Fire Brigade workers on the field. Additionally, nearly 750,000 consumer units are without electricity and 1,300 workers are working to restore power. Media reports 1.5 million consumers were without electricity. In the neighboring state of Rio Grande do Sul, the state government reported that 1,119 people were displaced, 921 buildings damaged and a total of 19 municipalities affected due to heavy rain and winds of the cyclone. Additionally, media reported that 145,000 homes are without electricity in the state, 71,000 of them in Erechim Municipality.
