On 21 May, the United States Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) reported a tornado that touched down in Gaylord, Michigan on the afternoon of 20 May. The tornado damaged multiple homes and businesses and caused major damage to 5-10 homes. Rescue efforts are ongoing with the Fire, EMS, and Police Departments, and in total 44 injuries and 1 fatality were reported. Additionally, several gas leaks were reported, and 6,250 residents are without power in Otsego County. The report is available at FEMA.

United States of America (Update)  

On 23 May, the United States FEMA provided an update on fires occurring in New Mexico and Texas. The Hermit’s Peak Fire in San Miguel, New Mexico has burned 310,253 acres and is 40% contained. There are 4,958 residents under mandatory evacuation orders and 22,543 residents under voluntary evacuation orders. Additionally, 16,433 houses are threatened, 18 houses and 31 structures were damaged, and 358 houses and 295 structures were destroyed. There were 47 injuries reported. The Cerro Pelado Fire in Sandoval, New Mexico has burned 45,605 acres and is 85% contained. There are 753 residents under mandatory evacuation orders, 4 houses and 6 structures were destroyed, and 2 people were injured. The Mesquite Heat Fire in Taylor, Texas has burned 11,256 acres and is 52% contained. The mandatory evacuation order has been lifted, 50 houses are threatened, and 20 houses and 7 structures were destroyed. The report is available at FEMA.

On 20 May, according to a media report, due to heavy rains in the Meta region of Meta, the Guatiquía River overflowed. The overflow of the Guatiquía River caused flooding in the city affecting 1,200 people and causing nearly 280 residents to be evacuated. There are currently at least 20 critical points for flooding in the city and there is extensive damage reported. In addition, the Villavicencio Vanguardia Airport passenger terminal and runway were flooded prompting operations to be temporarily suspended. The report is available at Noticias RCN.
