Guatemala (Update)
On 12 December 2023, the Guatemala National Coordinator for Disaster Reduction (CONRED per its acronym in Spanish) reported that heavy rains caused a landslide in the San José neighborhood, in the Cobán Municipality, in Alta Verapaz Department damaging several homes. Additionally, the country has opened six shelters that are currently sheltering 72 persons. The reports are available from: CONRED
Peru
On 12 December 2023, the National Institute of Civil Defense (INDECI per its acronym in Spanish) informed that on 8 December 2023, heavy rains registered in the Chirimoto District, Amazonas Department caused landslides that affected homes, roads, and an educational institution in the village of Luz Oriente. Additionally, in the Village of Luz Oriente, access remains interrupted due to the landslide. The report is available from: INDECI REPORT No 11846
