Brazil

On 13 March 2023, the Manaus City Hall of the state of Amazonas, Brazil, declared a state of emergency due to the heavy rains in Manaus. The city hall has reported 120 emergencies to Civil Protection. A landslide on 12 March affected 11 homes and 8 deaths were reported. Additionally, they're are74 people sheltered in a church that are being transferred to a school. Colombia

On 11 March 2023, the Colombia National Unit for Disaster Risk Management (UNGRD per its acronym in Spanish) published information on heavy rains affecting the municipality of Curumaní, Department of Cesar. The heavy rains started on 8 March, affecting 600 homes/families and causing up to 70% loss in belongings and harvest. The report is available at: UNGRD

United States of America

On 13 March 2023, the United States Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), published information on the heavy rain and flooding affecting the states of California and Nevada. Mandatory evacuations are in effect for 15,000 people and evacuation warnings for 54,000 people. In California 2 deaths were reported and 29 shelters were opened housing 426 people, and there were 23 patients evacuated from a health care facility in Tulare County. Additionally, 2 wastewater facilities reported sewage spillage into flood waters. The Emergency Operation Center (EOC) of California was fully activated and the EOC of Nevada was partially activated. Peru (Update)

On 13 March 2023, the Peru Civil Protection (INDECI per its acronym in Spanish) published updated information on the heavy rains affecting the country. INDECI reported 6 deaths have occurred in Piura (2 increase since the 10 March report) and 5,429 people were affected. Additionally, 141 homes were destroyed, and 13 health care facilities were affected, of which, 4 are inoperative.
