On 13 October, the US Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) reported on the Alisal Fire in Santa Barbara, California, that began on 11 October. There are 2,000 threatened houses in and around Refugio Canyon, Tajiguas, Arroya Quemada, Gaviota, and Goleta. A watershed, communications tower, and power distribution lines are also threatened by the fire. The fire has burned 13,400 acres and is 0% contained. It has caused the mandatory evacuation of 490 residents and 600 people remain under voluntary evacuation orders. One shelter has been opened for those who have evacuated. The Tajiguas Landfill and Materials Recovery Facility Complex sustained damage and ongoing assessments are currently underway. In total, 1 house has been destroyed and 1 person has been injured.
