On 15 September 2026, media reported that heavy rainfall affecting the state of Paraná since 9 September has caused four deaths, with two people still missing. According to the State Civil Defence, 76 incidents were recorded across 71 municipalities, affecting more than 21,000 people, with 2,128 displaced, 395 sheltered, 2,680 houses damaged and one destroyed. The fourth death was confirmed on 14 September in Rio Branco do Sul, in the Metropolitan Region of Curitiba, where a body was recovered from the Ribeira river; the three previous deaths occurred in Ponta Grossa, where a landslide buried a house, killing a couple aged 21 and a five-year-old child. The Ribeira Valley is the worst affected area, with Adrianópolis completely cut off by land and receiving assistance by air and river transport, while in União da Vitória the Iguaçu river reached 6.17 metres, affecting 2,047 people, of whom 1,800 were displaced and 247 sheltered. Five municipalities have declared a state of emergency, and damage was reported to state and federal highways, water supply systems and school operations. On 15 September 2026, media reported the updated balance of the magnitude 7.4 earthquake of 10 August, with epicentre in San José del Palmar, Chocó. The Single Registry of Disaster Victims (RUD) records 335 deaths, 4,516 injured, 105 missing and 364 people rescued, with 303,934 families and 486,917 people registered as affected across 16 departments and 500 municipalities. Housing damage reached 206,931 damaged and 36,478 destroyed houses, an increase over the balance published at the beginning of September, when 187,839 damaged and 33,395 destroyed were recorded. Authorities indicated that the RUD is still being consolidated by territorial entities and that the figures remain preliminary and subject to modification.
