On 15 September 2026, the São Paulo State Civil Defense (Defesa Civil) reported that heavy rains affecting the state since 11 September had resulted in three deaths, one missing person, and nine injured people. The deaths occurred in Jandira, Itaquaquecetuba, and São Bernardo do Campo, where a landslide struck a residence. A total of 313 people were left homeless and 1,509 were displaced, for more than 1,800 people affected. Authorities reported 53 weather-related incidents, including 14 during the preceding 24 hours across 14 municipalities. A state of emergency was declared in five municipalities: Registro, Ribeira, Iporanga, Barra do Turvo, and Piracaia. Nineteen shelters were established in the Ribeira Valley, while at least 50 homes were damaged in Ribeira and six in Itaquaquecetuba. Several highways were fully closed, including SP-250 in Guapiara, SP-165 in Sete Barras, SP-304 in Serra de Santa Maria, and the old Serra road of the Tamoios Highway.
