United States of America (update)

On 17 March 2023, the United States Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), published updated information on the heavy rain and flooding affecting the state of California. Mandatory evacuations are in effect for 26,000 people (10,000 increase since the 14 March report) and evacuation warnings are in effect for 42,000 people (decrease of 7,000 people). There were 29 shelters opened, housing 665 people (114 increase); additionally, 5 deaths have been reported. The report is available at: FEMA

Peru (Update)

On 17 March 2023, the Peru Civil Protection (INDECI per its acronym in Spanish), published updated information on the effects of the heavy rains in the departments Piura, Lima, and Cajamarca. In the department of Piura, 9,816 people were affected (563 increase since the 16 March report). Additionally, 3,760 homes were affected (123 increase) and 307 homes were destroyed (15 increase). There were 21 affected healthcare facilities and 4 were destroyed. In the department of Cajamarca, there were 2,833 people affected; 466 homes were affected and 771 were destroyed. In addition, 5 healthcare facilities were affected and 2 were destroyed. In the department of Lima, there were 208 people affected (2,637 increase) and 1 death was reported. There were 1,087 homes affected and 31 homes destroyed (8 increase).
