Guatemala (Update)

On 16 October 2023, the Guatemala National Coordinator for Disaster Reduction (CONRED per its acronym in Spanish) published an update on the rainy season in the country. There have been 1,083 severe rain incidents reported nationally (30 increase since the 14 October report). At least 3,787,130 people were affected (426,485 increase), 40,205 people were attended to (896 increase), 18,754 people were evacuated (814 increase), 14,474 people are considered at risk (269 increase), 926 people are being sheltered, and there were 52 deaths reported (4 increase). The report is available from: CONRED

Drought

Brazil (Update)

On 16 October 2023, Civil Protection of the state of Amazonas in Brazil provided an update on the ongoing drought. There have been 557,000 people affected by the drought (160,000 increase since the 13 October report) in the state of Amazonas (95,000 increase since the 10 October report) and 50 municipalities out of 62 have declared a State of Emergency due to the drought.
