Guatemala (Update) 

On 18 August, the Guatemala National Coordination System for Disaster Reduction (CONRED per its acronym in Spanish), provided an update about the effects of the rainy season in the country. To date 1,325 incidents related to heavy rains have been reported. Between 1 April to 18 August 2022, 2,125,457 people have been affected and 31 deaths were reported. In total, 345 houses were severely damaged. In addition, 69 bridges, 358 roads, and 163 schools were affected. The report is available at: CONRED.

 

Dominican Republic

On 18 August, the Dominican Republic Emergency Operations Center (COE per its acronym in Spanish), provided information about the heavy rains that have affected part of the country in the last few days. To date, 10 houses were affected and 2 were destroyed. In total, 70 people have been displaced from their homes and are currently in safe areas. In addition, 15 aqueducts are out of operation due to the damages caused, affecting 298,234 users. The report is available at: Centro de Operaciones de Emergencias.
