On 19 December 2024, the Chile Ministry of the Interior and Civil Protection (SENAPRED per its acronym in Spanish) declared red alert for the communes of Pichidegua AND Litueche (Libertador Gral. Bernardo O'Higgins Region), San Antonio (Valparaíso Region), and Linares (Del Maule Region) due to the wildfires. The most affected commune is Litueche, with 588.85 acres burned and 6 homes were destroyed.
