On 21 September 2026, the Civil Defense of Rio Grande do Sul (Defesa Civil) reported that a severe storm with winds above 100 km/h affected 119 municipalities in the state. According to the report, at least two people died and three remained missing, with 101 people homeless and 701 displaced. Damage included 21 houses destroyed, 389 damaged, 1,978 unroofed and 110 flooded, as well as 38 schools, 17 health facilities and 37 other public or private buildings affected.
