On 23 September 2026, the Risk Management Secretariat (SNGR) reported two river overflows, with information current as of 07:00. In Guayas Province, the Guachapelí River overflowed, affecting Salitre, Vernaza and the Tres Marías settlement. In Esmeraldas Province, rainfall on 21–22 September caused the Sucio River to overflow, affecting ten settlements: San Salvador, San José, Mono Bravo, Mono Manso, La Magdalena, Canalón, San Jacinto, El Pailón, Las Delicias and San Pablo. Preliminary figures indicated that 394 families, comprising 600 people, and 350 houses were affected. Reports are available from SNGR and Teleamazonas.
