Uruguay (Update)

On 24 March 2024, the Uruguay National Emergency System published updated information on the heavy rains affecting the central and southern parts of the country. A total of 6,030 people remain displaced throughout the country (1,308 increase since the 22 March report), of which, 696 were evacuated (decrease of 299) and 5,334 self-evacuated (2,062 increase). The geographic distribution of the displaced people is across the departments of Canelones (n=1,823), Colonia (n=6), Durazno (n=2,035), Florida (n=1,453), Rocha (n=10), and San Jose (n=703). Brazil

On 23 March 2024, the Government of Brazil reported the state of Rio de Janeiro is on alert for continued severe weather following the heavy rainfall that occurred 22 March 2024. On 25 March, media is reporting there were 600 people displaced, 258 incidents were attended to, and 9 deaths have occurred related to the severe weather.
