Colombia (update)
On 27 August 2026, the Colombia National Unit for Disaster Risk Management (UNGRD, per its acronym in Spanish) reported that, as of 06:00, 21 wildfires remained active across five departments, while two were controlled and 21 were under monitoring. Tolima was the most affected department, with 11 active wildfires in rural areas, while active events were also reported in Valle del Cauca, Cundinamarca, Nariño, and Huila. More than 600 wildfires have been recorded in over 200 municipalities nationwide during the second dry season of the year and amid El Niño conditions. In Tolima, more than 27,000 hectares have been affected across 22 municipalities, prompting a declaration of public calamity.
