On 28 April 2026, a media report provided information on heavy rains affecting the municipality of Cruzeiro do Sul, in the state of Acre. According to the report, approximately 23,744 people have been affected across 29 localities, including urban neighborhoods, rural communities, and villages. Authorities indicated that evacuation operations are ongoing, with families being relocated to public shelters and relatives’ homes; at least one family has already been accommodated in a temporary shelter established in a local school. In Miritizal, 13 Indigenous families (more than 100 people) are under close monitoring and may be evacuated if water levels continue to rise. Additional response measures include the preparation of five schools as emergency shelters and the preventive suspension of electricity supply in 17 residences to reduce risks.
