On 3 April 2023, the Colombia National Unit for Disaster Risk Management (UNGRD per its acronym in Spanish) informed that the Government of Colombia has declared state of public calamity due to the activity of the Nevado del Ruiz volcano, in the municipalities of Casabianca, Herveo, Murillo and Villahermosa. According to a media report, approximately 40 families of the municipality of Villamaría, near to Nevado del Ruíz, will be evacuated as a preventive measure. Peru (Update)

On 4 March 2023, the Peru Civil Protection (INDECI per its acronym in Spanish), published updated information on the heavy rains affecting the departments of La Libertad and Lambayeque. In the department of La Libertad, there were 7,664 people affected (an increase of 1,393 since the 31 March report) and 3 deaths were reported. There were 2,558 homes affected (an increase of 490) and 531 were destroyed (an increase of 45). In the department of Lambayeque, there were 41,470 people were affected (14,139 increase since the 3 April report) and 2 deaths were reported; A total of 11,079 homes were affected (3,008 increase) and 4,807 were destroyed (2,161 increase). The detailed reports are available from: INDECI-La Libertad and INDECI-Lambayeque
