Colombia (Update)
On 3 September 2026, the Colombia National Unit for Disaster Risk Management (UNGRD, per its acronym in Spanish) provided an updated assessment of the magnitude 7.4 earthquake that struck on 10 August, with its epicenter in San José del Palmar, Chocó. According to the update, 331 deaths and 4,519 injured people were reported, while 466,606 people, corresponding to 293,743 families, were affected across approximately 498 municipalities in 16 departments. The number of missing persons decreased significantly compared with previous reports as cases were resolved. Damage to hospitals, schools, roads, bridges, and aqueducts continued to be reported.
