United States of America (Update)

On 6 January 2023, the United States Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), provided an update regarding flooding in Northern California. There were 10 deaths reported (6 increase since the prior report) and mandatory evacuations were issued in Sacramento, Santa Cruz, Calaveras, San Mateo, Los Angeles (new), and Monterey (new). To date, a total of 30 county Emergency Operation Centers (EOC) have been activated. In addition, 9 shelters are active (decrease of 15 since the prior report), housing 225 people (decrease of 15 since the prior report). Brazil (Update)

On 6 January 2023, the Civil Defense of the state of Minas Gerais of Brazil, provided an update regarding the heavy rains occurring there. In the municipality of Pouso Alegre, heavy rain has caused flooding affecting 20,000 people, and at least 45 people were evacuated. Between 21 September 2022 and 6 January 2023, throughout the state of Minas Gerais, there were 14 deaths reported, 9,225 people were evacuated, and 126 municipalities declared an emergency. The report isavailable at: Defesa Civil de Minas Gerais
