Paraguay
On 6 October 2026, the National Emergency Secretariat (SEN, per its acronym in Spanish) reported damage assessments and the distribution of relief supplies to families affected by the severe storm that brought heavy rainfall, strong winds, and large hail to Asunción and the Central department on 3 October. Approximately 400 houses were damaged in the Laurelty neighborhood of Capiatá, the most affected locality, while 50 families were affected in southern Areguá and 30 in Bañado. The Ministry of Public Health and Social Welfare activated a contingency protocol following damage to several health facilities, including the National Cancer Institute (Incan, per its acronym in Spanish) and the Calle'i Hospital in San Lorenzo, where patients were relocated. At Incan, damage to the Emergency pavilion allowed water to enter the facility and also affected the Admission, Palliative Care, and Inpatient areas. A total of 24 patients were relocated, and the hospital is operating at 70% capacity, with backup generators supplying critical areas. No injuries or fatalities have been reported. The reports are available from: SEN and La Nación.
