On 5 May 2026, the Chile Ministry of the Interior and Civil Protection (SENAPRED per its acronym in Spanish) provided information on the heavy rains in the Region of Biobío. In the municipality of Arauco, 12 houses were affected. In Lebú, eight people and 8 homes were affected. In Lota, 6 homes were affected. Authorities also reported disruptions to road connectivity due to landslides and flooding. In Arauco, landslides affected Route P-20 in the sectors of Las Peñas and El Cajón in Laraquete. In Alto Biobío, the overflow of a stream affected Route Q-699 near kilometer 57.1 in the Butalelbún sector. Authorities conducted joint inspections to assess the situation. On 7 May 2026, a media report informed that the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) provided information on powerful storms and at least three tornadoes affecting several counties in the state. According to the report, the weather system resulted in injuries to at least 17 individuals and impacted approximately 500 dwellings across the southwest region. Impacts included the damage of at least 200 homes in Lincoln County, 275 homes in Lamar County, and approximately 12 residences in Lawrence County due to destructive winds, uprooted trees, and structural collapses that disrupted local infrastructure.
