On 8 May 2026, the National System of Emergencies of Uruguay, provided information on a cold front associated with a low-pressure system, moving from the southwest to the northeast, generated severe storms across several regions. According to the report, the weather system resulted in the impact of approximately 91 households and affected 85 dwellings. Authorities reported that the primary locations affected include Rivera, Salto, Paysandú, Durazno, Treinta y Tres, and San Jose. Additional impacts included pluvial flooding, uprooted trees, and the structural failure of residential roofs caused by strong wind gusts, intense electrical activity, and heavy precipitation that disrupted local infrastructure.
