On 8 September 2026, media reported that Hurricane Lowell brought heavy rainfall and strong winds to Hawaii, causing flooding, damage to roads and buildings, and widespread power outages. On Kauai, downed trees and strong winds disrupted power across much of the island. Across Hawaii, approximately 42,000 customers were without electricity. The highest rainfall accumulation was reported in Hanalei, Kauai, at 17.76 inches (451 mm). Authorities warned of continued risks of flash floods and landslides.
