On 17 April 2023, the Dominican Republic Emergency Operations Center (COE per its acronym in Spanish), declared a yellow alert due to heavy rains for 16 provinces: Santo Domingo, Distrito Nacional, Sánchez Ramírez, María Trinidad Sánchez, La Vega, Hermanas Mirabal, Monseñor Nouel, San Pedro de Macorís, Monte Plata, Hato Mayor, Samaná, Duarte, Espaillat, El Seibo, Puerto Plata, and La Altagracia. Media has reported schools, roads, and 177 homes  were affected by the heavy rains in the municipality of Las Terrenas, in the province of Samaná. The reports are available from: COE and Hoy
