Select image to download the Official Photo of the Director of Administration of PAHOMr. Gerald Anderson, a national of the United States of America, was appointed Director of Administration of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), Regional Office for the Americas of the World Health Organization (WHO), in March 2014.

The Director of Administration serves as a member of the Organization's Executive Management and is comprised of five areas: Financial Resource and Management, General Services Operations, Human Resources Management, Information Technology Services, and Procurement Services. In addition, the office oversees the units of Administrative Operations Specialist and Strategic Initiatives and Innovation.

Prior to joining PAHO, Mr. Anderson served as Secretary for Administration and Finance at the Organization of American States (OAS) in Washington, D.C. Before that, he served as the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, Department of State, Washington, D.C., where he also held the positions of Director, Office of Peacekeeping, Sanctions, and Counter-terrorism, and Deputy Assistant Secretary of State at the Bureau of International Organization Affairs.

Mr. Anderson has a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies from Bradley University, Peoria, Illinois, a Diploma on French Civilization from the Universite de Paris III (Sorbonne), Paris, France, and a Masters of Arts in International Economics from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies. He has more than 30 years of experience working in international affairs, having served as a Peace Corps Volunteer, a Diplomat in the U.S. Foreign Service, and a Counselor for Political Affairs at the U.S. Embassy in Warsaw, Poland.
