National PAHO Consultant, Disease Elimination

PURPOSE:
PAHO/WHO is looking for a national consultant who will support the Disease Elimination Initiative at the Guyana country office. As part of the Communicable Diseases (CDE) / Public Health Emergencies (PHE) / Social and Environmental Determinants of Health for Equity (DHE) country team, the consultant will collaborate towards developing and implementing corresponding workplans, particularly in relation to the activities and deliverables outlined in these terms of reference.

QUALIFICATION:
Essential: An advanced university degree in public health, social sciences, public administration or related fields from a recognized university
Desirable: A medical degree or post graduate degree at a Master level in public health, health care management, or related fields will be an asset.

EXPERIENCE:
Essential: Five years of professional experience in public health, including in the field of Communicable Diseases.
Desirable: Work experience in the development of policy, guidelines, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) in the health sector pertaining to the prevention, control, and elimination of HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis, TB, or Malaria. Experience with the UN inter-agency mechanisms will be an asset.
