PURPOSE:
PAHO/WHO is looking for a national consultant who will support the Public Health Emergency portfolio at the Guyana country office. As part of the Communicable Diseases (CDE) / Public Health Emergencies (PHE) / Social and Environmental Determinants of Health for Equity (DHE) country team, the consultant will collaborate towards implementing corresponding workplans, particularly in relation to the activities and deliverables outlined in these terms of reference.
QUALIFICATION:
Essential: An advanced university degree in public health, social sciences, public administration or related fields from a recognized university
Desirable: A medical degree or post graduate degree at a Master level in disaster management, emergency/humanitarian response, epidemiology, or related fields will be an asset.
EXPERIENCE:
Essential: Five years of professional experience in public health, including in the field of disaster management and development of strategies to reduce risk at national level.
Desirable: Work experience in the development of policy, guidelines, standard operating procedures (SOPs) to reduce disaster risk and mitigate the impact of disasters in the health sector. Experience with the UN inter-agency mechanisms; collaboration towards international preparedness for and in response to health emergencies will be an asset.
