The Alliance for Primary Health Care in the Americas was launched in December 2023 by the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the World Bank (WB) as a collaboration to boost investment, innovation and implementation of policies and initiatives aimed at transforming health systems in the region with a focus on primary health care (PHC). In two years, the Alliance has aligned technical cooperation, financing, and policy dialogue at the country level in support of national priorities. Key to the Alliance’s success is the Ministry of Health’s strong leadership in guiding the analysis of national needs and the development of investment plans, based on national health strategies and programs. |
