Development of human resources for health information systems in the Americas: Regional workshop. Panama City, 11–15 September 2023. Meeting report

Human resources for health information systems (HRHIS) are essential for efficiently managing healthcare personnel and formulating evidence-based policies. However, many countries face challenges in integrating these systems, which hinders workforce planning and monitoring. The fragmentation of data poses a challenge that can be overcome through better coordination with the National Health Workforce Accounts (NHWA). In September 2023, a workshop on HRHIS was held with more than 90 participants from 35 countries and territories. During the event, significant gaps were identified in the development and governance of these systems, highlighting the need for cooperation tailored to each country’s needs.
