Immunization Newsletter, v.47, n.2, August 2025

The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) publishes the Immunization Newsletter in Spanish, English, French, and Portuguese. Its purpose is to facilitate the exchange of ideas and information on immunization programs in the Region of the Americas and beyond. The English and Spanish versions have been published since 1979, while those in French and Portuguese have been published since 2001 and 2019, respectively. The August 2025 issue of the Immunization Newsletter includes the following articles: Vaccination in shopping malls in Brazil: a successful experience to achieve a high, homogeneous vaccination coverage for the population; Driving digital transformation in immunization programs with a new virtual course on electronic immunization registries (EIRs) in PAHO's Virtual Campus for Public Health; Use of data on influenza (or flu)-related health burden and the impact of influenza (or flu) vaccination in selected countries of the Region, with information on a workshop for the generation of evidence to support health policies for the prevention and control of seasonal influenza; Sentinel surveillance of pediatric diarrhea and rotavirus diarrhea in the Region of the Americas, from 2017 to 2024; Immunization strategies to increase vaccination coverage in the municipality of Boa Vista Do Ramos, Amazonas in Brazil; VPD-SMART: a new era for vaccine-preventable disease surveillance in the Americas; Justice, evidence, and vaccines: a personal journey in public health By Hugo Rázuri, Deputy Manager of the PAHO Special Program on Comprehensive Immunization (CIM); and a farewell from associate editor of the Immunization Newsletter for the past 12 years, Octavia Silva.
