Regional Update, Influenza and Other Respiratory Viruses. Epidemiological Week 10 (20 March 2026)

Regional Situation: Across the Region of the Americas, respiratory virus activity shows heterogeneous trends. Influenza activity is declining or stabilizing in North America, the Caribbean, and Central America, while increases are observed in parts of the Andean subregion and the Southern Cone, with influenza A(H3N2) predominating in most subregions. Influenza activity remains above the epidemic threshold in several countries, with particularly high positivity reported in Guatemala and Bolivia. RSV activity is generally low and stable across the Region, although increases are observed in Ecuador and, to a lesser extent, Colombia, while elevated activity persists in Suriname. SARS-CoV-2 activity remains low or declining in most subregions, with localized increases or higher positivity observed in some countries, including Chile. Overall, respiratory virus circulation remains heterogeneous, warranting continued monitoring of localized increases in influenza and RSV activity.
