Regional Situation: In the Region of the Americas, during epidemiological week (EW) 14 of 2026, influenza activity is heterogeneous across subregions. In North America, the Caribbean, Central America, and the Andean subregion, a declining trend predominates, consistent with the end of the epidemic period, although with slight upticks in some areas. In contrast, Brazil and the Southern Cone show a sustained increase, in line with the start of the season. Circulation of influenza A(H3) predominates, with co-circulation of other subtypes and influenza B to a lesser extent. Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) activity remains at low to moderate levels in most subregions, with variable trends (declining in the north and increasing in the south), while SARS-CoV-2 circulation remains low and stable or decreasing across the region. In parallel, other respiratory viruses, such as rhinovirus, adenovirus, and parainfluenza, show heterogeneous patterns, with decreases in some subregions and localized increases in others. |
