Regional Update, Influenza and Other Respiratory Viruses. Epidemiological Week 21 (5 June 2026)

Regional Situation: In epidemiological week 21, influenza activity continues to decline in North America (4%), while remaining at moderate and stable levels in the Caribbean (3.4%), Central America (10.1%) and the Andean Region (6.6%). Brazil and the Southern Cone recorded a sustained increase, reaching 13%, mainly associated with influenza A, with Argentina (36.5%), Uruguay (19.3%) and Chile (16.1%) among the highest values. RSV activity is moderate and increasing in the Andean Region (14.3%, with Peru at 20.7%), in the Caribbean (Suriname, 41.7%), and in Brazil and the Southern Cone (10.2%, with Brazil at 13.7%). SARS-CoV-2 continues to decline in the Andean Region and remains at low levels in the other subregions, with a slight increase in the Caribbean. Syndromic surveillance reports increases in ILI and SARI cases mainly associated with influenza and RSV in Brazil, the Southern Cone, and the Andean Region, with a sustained reduction in cases in North America.
