Regional Update, Influenza and Other Respiratory Viruses. Epidemiological Week 23 (19 June 2026)

Regional Situation: Influenza activity is declining or at interseasonal levels in North America and the Andean subregion, while circulation remains elevated or increasing in parts of Central America and the Southern Cone, particularly Panama, Chile, Paraguay, and Uruguay, predominantly driven by influenza A(H3N2). RSV activity is generally low in North America but remains elevated or increasing in Central America, the Andean subregion, and parts of the Southern Cone, notably Nicaragua, Panama, Ecuador, and Brazil. SARS-CoV-2 activity remains low in most subregions but has increased in the Caribbean and in selected countries, including Jamaica, Guyana, Guatemala, and Mexico. Overall, ILI and SARI activity remains low or decreasing in several subregions, although continued monitoring is warranted given localized increases in influenza, RSV, and SARS-CoV-2 circulation.
